Doulas of North America (Michigan Listing)
* There are two types of doulas: birth doulas, which support women in labor, and postpartum doulas, which provide physical and emotional support to the Mom and her baby once they are home. The postpartum doula can help answer questions about caring for the baby, breastfeeding, etc. She will also shop for groceries and provide childcare so Mom can rest.

Michigan Midwives Association
* The Michigan Midwives Association (MMA) is an expanding network of midwives, apprentices and childbirth educators who represent a wide spectrum of philosophies. They support the rights of parents to make informed decisions about childbirth. They believe comprehensive home birth practices, combined with trained, experienced midwives, are a viable option for low risk, healthy women.

Women, Infant, and Children Program (WIC)
* The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is a federally-funded program that serves low and moderate income pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women, infants, and children up to age 5 who have a nutrition-related health problem. The program provides a combination of nutrition education, supplemental foods, breastfeeding promotion and support, and referrals to health care, and has demonstrated a positive effect on pregnancy outcomes, child growth and development.

Lamaze Childbirth Preparation Association (Ann Arbor)

* LCPA is a non-profit organization staffed by trained professionals who promote the well-being of the family and the concept of family-centered maternity care. Classes include: Breastfeeding, infant care, infant CPR, prenatal yoga and sibling preparation. Postpartum support: Mother's groups, parent/toddler play group. There is also a monthly support group for families struggling with pregnancy loss or the death of a newborn.
