This agency handles the following: Medicaid (insurance for low-income families, pregnant women, children and seniors), Food Stamps, and Welfare.

Serves only North Oakland County. This is a grant supported, non-profit agency that helps people with paying bills, finding jobs, food and prescriptions. To qualify, individuals need evidence of low income, driverís license or picture ID, have not used the services of the Lighthouse within the previous year. People can apply for financial assistance for paying utility bills, receive food once per month (canned food or boxed food), have prescriptions paid for once per year, have their first months rent and/or security deposit paid. They also have a job program to teach people how to write a resume, interview, and find area jobs.

*WIC is a program of the Michigan Department of Public Health. Need is based on the size of family and income. This program is mainly for pregnant women and babies under the age of one year, and children under the age of five. They supply coupons for various foods and provide information about nutrition.
