Freshman Scholarships

All scholarships are based on:

  • grade point average at the time of application
  • the highest composite ACT score or the highest SAT score (total of Verbal and Math scores only)

All of the UM-Dearborn Scholarships can be renewed (4 year duration) and range from $2,000 annually to full-tuition (in-state rates) and select fees. If a student is eligible for more than one UM-Dearborn funded scholarship, the scholarship of greater value will be awarded. Students receiving UM-Dearborn funded scholarships may also be considered for endowed or donor scholarships.

Unless otherwise stated, all recipients must be a U.S. citizen or permanent residents and must meet Michigan residency requirements for in-state tuition.

All scholarships are subject to review for renewal at the end of each academic year. All recipients must meet requirements of satisfactory academic progress and maintain a cumulative grade point average as articulated on their Terms and Conditions Form at the time of online scholarship acceptance.

Apply for Admission by December 15, 2015 for the 2016-2017 academic year, and be instantly eligible for scholarship consideration.

Chancellorís Scholarship

(each award valued at approximately $48,000 for a period of up to four years)
The Chancellorís Scholarship awards a full-tuition scholarship for up to four years.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade point average of 4.00 or higher at the time of admission
  • ACT composite of 31* or SAT score of 1380* or higher (highest composite test score used)

* Only ACT/SAT scores from tests taken through November of the senior year can be used for Chancellorís Scholarship eligibility.


Metropolitan Scholarship

(each award valued at $20,000 for a period of up to four years)

The Metropolitan Scholarship awards an annual scholarship of $5,000 for up to four years.

Deanís Scholarship

(each award valued at $16,000 for a period of four years)
The Deanís Scholarship awards an annual scholarship of $4,000 for up to four years.

Maize Scholarship

(each award valued at $12,000 over four years)
The Maize Scholarship awards an annual scholarship of $3,000 for up to four years.

Opportunity and Victors Scholarships

The Opportunity Scholarship Program is designed for high school seniors admitted with a minimum recalculated GPA of 3.00 at the time of admission who are currently enrolled in a Michigan public school district with an economically disadvantaged status of 70% or greater(as recognized by the State of Michigan).  Students enrolled in a Michigan charter school are also eligible if:  a) their school is located geographically within an eligible district, or b) their school meets the 70% or greater threshold independently. Opportunity Scholarship
(Each award is valued at $8,000 over 4 years)
The Opportunity Scholarship awards a $2,000 for up to 4 years

  Minimum requirements:

Victors Scholarship
(each of 15 awards are valued at $48,000 over four years) 

The Victors Scholarship awards a full-tuition scholarship for up to 4 years.
Minimum requirements in addition to requirements for the Opportunity Scholarship:

  • Admitted by January 15
  • Invited to compete in interviews for the 15 Victors Scholarships

Students from eligible schools who are the recipients of Dean's Scholarship may also interview to compete for one of the 15 full-tuition Victors Scholarships.

Tuition Differential Scholarship

Valued at approximately $53,000 and covers the difference between residential and non-residential tuition for up to four years.

Minimum requirements:

  • High school seniors admitted with a minimum 3.5 GPA at the time of admission
  • 24 ACT or 1110 SAT score
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, a Canadian citizen or landed mmigrant, or a Mexican citizen
