50th Celebration Highlights

The 50th Anniversary Celebration kicked off at the Henry Ford Estate on September 23, 2009 drew more than 600 people. It was an amazing evening with good weather, fantastic speakers, delicious food, and an impressive gathering of friends and colleagues.

  • 50th Celebration at the Henry Ford Estate with over 600 attendance
  • 34 campus events supported by the 50th Anniversary Committe
  • Alumni Day - April 8 - which had over 500 attendees and created 44 new alumni affinity groups
  • Energy of the Future Conference - Hosted by CECS with over 150 in attendance
  • Inclusion Conference hosted by the School of Education
  • KPMG Series - College of Business
  • Urban Farming Conferences
  • Library reunion
  • The Difference Makers - honoring 50 students
  • Adding University colors to the campus landscape with permanent light post banners and building banners
  • New visuals in the UC with the Building a Legacy of Excellence collection featuring historical photos
  • 2010 Commencement Ceremony with Belinda Wilson and Mary Sue Coleman as key note speakers
  • New book, The Gift Matured, An updated History of the University of Michigan-Dearborn, 1984-2009, by Elton Higgs
  • Creating of the time line that showcases our important milestones
  • 76 new videos and photos posted
  • 60 shared memories from alumni
  • 31 people won the 50th Anniversary contest
