Concert of Colors
2015 CONCERT OF COLORS ` METRO DETROITíS DIVERSITY FESTIVAL
For the last 4 years UM-Dearborn, the University of Michigan Detroit Center, and the OMI have supported and helped staff this wonderful multicultural musical event in Midtown Detroit.
This yearís concert will be held July 8th through the 12th. There will also be a tune-up show on Saturday, July 4th.
The Concert of Colors is Metro-Detroitís free annual diversity music festival. It is presented by Arab American National Museum, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Institute of Arts, Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History and ACCESS with the goal of bringing together metro Detroitís diverse communities and ethnic groups by presenting musical acts from around the world. Over its 22-year history, the festival has become a beloved highlight of metro Detroitís summer festival season, and one of the few free-admission music festivals remaining locally.
Year after year volunteers are a critical piece to ensuring the success of this free music festival. Not only do volunteers contribute to the success of this week long event, but their participation is something that can be rewarding and enjoyable. Volunteers get the opportunity to not only experience many cultures through music and performances, but also get to work with other volunteers from a variety of cultural backgrounds.
Volunteer activities include: setting up backstage dressing rooms, table and chair set-up, ushering, picking up trash, handing out fliers, answering patron questions, working the registration tables and HAVING FUN!
Your ongoing involvement and leadership is important to us and once again, we need your help! We are looking for volunteers for Saturday, July 11th and Sunday, July 12th at the Max M. Fisher Music Center (located at 3711 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, MI 48201).
