MDHHS Health Literacy/Cultural Competency Training Intern

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Health Policy and Innovation, provides expertise in health policy issues, including issues that have the potential to impact the healthcare workforce.  The Health Literacy/Cultural Competency Training Intern will have the following responsibilities for the Spring/Summer 2016 Semester:
1. Provide assistance and support to the Health Disparities Reduction and Minority Health Section Health Literacy/Cultural Competency Toolkit development
2. Work with HDRMHS staff to establish a health literacy project committee
3. Help to research health literacy and cultural competency curricula and best practices
4. Assist with organizing a statewide health literacy conference

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
- Good communicator/writer
- Research experience
- Work with committees/task force
- Organize meetings

Required Education and Experience:
- At the time of internship, must be currently enrolled in a graduate program.
- Preferred majors include: Public Health, Health Communications, Community Health, Health Education, Education/Curriculum Development or a related field.

Philadelphia Fellowship Opportunity with Urban Health Policy

The Philadelphia Department of Public Health is establishing a new two-year paid fellowship in urban health policy designed specifically for those with baccalaureate degrees in public health.

You are eligible to apply if you have graduated in the last two years (or before July 1, 2016) from a college or university in the United States with a baccalaureate degree and a major in public health, global health, or community health. Read the complete document for more details.
