Invest in the College of Business

The College of Business at the University of Michigan-Dearborn is both proud of and grateful for the support it has received from friends and alumni committed to making us leaders and best at what we do.

When students graduate from the College of Business, they take with them the skills and knowledge to lead in a rapidly-changing business environment, both regionally and nationally.  Whether it is through their participation in our career development and internship program or their experiences in iLabs, the College’s Center for Innovation Research, our students gain real experience and are positioned to immediately contribute to their employers’ success and advance their career.

There are many ways that your gift can support:

The ability to serve students, faculty and the community through scholarships, curriculum innovations and the latest technology is also strengthened through gifts to the College of Business Annual Fund. Gifts from alumni and friends help close the gap between state support and tuition and the actual costs of higher education.

Gifts of Cash
Cash gifts are put to work immediately for the College of Business and allow donors to take applicable credits and deductions in the current tax year.

Gifts of Securities
Appreciated securities significantly reduce the donor's capital gains tax. Tax deductions are based on the full market value of the gift in the year it is made, if the stock was held for more than one year. Gifts in excess of the allowed 30% of the donor's adjusted gross income can be carried over and deducted for up to five years.

Planned Giving
Many avenues are available for planned giving, such as a bequest, charitable trust designation, or IRA distribution. Donors considering a planned gift should contact Tim Hudson at (313) 583-6744.

Gifts in Kind
Donors may give a personal possession of special interest, such as art, collectible, rare books, equipment, automobiles, or other artifacts. Because special tax rules apply, donors are encouraged to discuss their plans with tax counsel.

Matching Gifts
Many corporations demonstrate their support of education by matching, or multiplying, their employees' gifts. Before making a gift, contact your employer's personnel office for the necessary matching gift forms.
