Your journey on the path to a rewarding career begins with the process of discovery and self-assessment. Learning about your options, developing new skills, and exploring your strengths now can help you define career interests later. You don't have to figure all of it out right now, but you can start defining your career plans by setting long-term goals, pursuing on-campus activities, and meeting with an Internship and Career Management Center (ICMC) career counselor. In order to choose the career that is best for you, it’s important to understand and begin to pursue your interests based on your defined values and skills. Our goal at the Internship and Career Management Center (ICMC) is to connect you with the tools and resources available on campus to help you through the dynamic career development process.
Step Three: Prepare for Internships and Jobs
The ICMC can assist you as your start your search for either an internship or entry level job. Does your cover letter and resume tell the story of where you want to go? Would an interviewer get a good sense of who you are? Does your LinkedIn profile reflect your goals and aspirations? Are you building your professional network? Would having a mentor help?
We can help you with your job search strategies, creating impeccable resumes, composing impressionable cover letters, sharpening your interviewing techniques, capitalizing on social media opportunities, connecting you with mentors and networking events.
