What is Sustainability? According to the dictionary it is:

An Environmental Science that has qualities of not causing harm to the environment or depleting the natural resources, and thereby supporting long-term ecological balance.

The World Commission on the Environment and Development says it's the "development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs."

In the recent years The University of Michigan Dearborn has taken notice and a stand to increase the sustainability of our campus. There are many groups on campus greatly involved in these efforts, including but not limited to the SEA: Student Environmental Association, SIFE: Students in Free Enterprise & EIC: Environmental Interpretive Center. There are many approaches that are being taken to teach and implement sustainability across the campus, and hoping outreach efforts will stretch into the metropolitan area.
