Ken Kettenbeil has joined UM-Dearborn as director of communications

DEARBORN / March 19, 2010---Ken Kettenbeil has been named director of communications at the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
Kettenbeil joined UM-Dearborn on March 1, after serving for nearly four years as the director of communications for smart USA, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Penske Automotive Group. Kettenbeil also served as vice president of communications for the Detroit Super Bowl XL Host Committee and marketing manager for the Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau.
In his role at UM-Dearborn, Kettenbeil will be responsible for all aspects of the campus’s communications. Specific responsibilities include the development of a strategic campus-wide communications plan, a focus on internal communication processes, media relations, crisis communication, publication oversight and support of the university’s four colleges and various departments and organizations.
“I am honored to have been selected to join the University of Michigan–Dearborn,” said Kettenbeil. “I have held various leadership positions in both corporate and non-profit work environments. My diverse work experiences will allow me to better serve the university and help communicate the incredible accomplishments being made everyday by faculty, students and staff.”
Kettenbeil earned a bachelor’s degree in communications at Wayne State University and is a native Detroiter who currently resides in Milford, Mich.
