Alumnae return to campus to talk to students at graduation on Dec. 16.

DEARBORN / Nov. 27---Susan Cischke, vice president of environmental and safety engineering for Ford Motor Company, and Sheryl Maibach, chief marketing officer for Barton Malow Company, will give commencement speeches at the University of Michigan-Dearborn on Saturday, Dec. 16.

Cischke will speak at a morning ceremony for graduates of the College of Engineering and Computer Science and the School of Management, and Maibach will speak at an afternoon ceremony for graduates of the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters and the School of Education.

Cischke earned master's degrees in mechanical engineering and management in 1978 at UM-Dearborn. A 1996 CASL alumna, Maibach studied business, communications and history at UM-Dearborn.

As Ford's top environmental and safety officer since 2001, Cischke assures that Ford Motor Company products meet or exceed all safety and environmental regulations worldwide by helping to shape corporate policy and working with global regulators on issues ranging from carbon dioxide emissions to pedestrian safety. In addition, Cischke leads the Driving Skills for Life program, a partnership between Ford Motor Company and the Governors State Highway Safety Association that teaches safe driving techniques to teens.

Prior to joining Ford, Cischke served as senior vice president of regulatory affairs and passenger car operations at DaimlerChrysler.

Cischke received the Horace H. Rackham Award for outstanding humanitarian achievements in 1997 from the Engineering Society of Detroit--the first woman in the society's 102-year history to win the award.

At Barton Malow, Maibach is responsible for the organization’s corporate sales, marketing and public relations.

A national construction services firm, Barton Malow has 11 regional offices and annual firm revenues of more than $1.3 billion. She has more than 25 years of professional service business development experience.

Maibach is a frequent guest speaker on business development topics and has published 32 marketing-related articles, including the books Tell the World! Results-Oriented Public Relations, co-authored with Dianne Ludman Frank and Marketing Handbook for the Design & Construction Professional, which she authored the chapter “Proposals and Qualifications.”
