October 25, 2006

DEARBORN / Oct. 25, 2006---Students interested in attending the University of Michigan-Dearborn can learn more about the campus and its degree programs during a series of events next month called “Education in Action.”

The series is divided into four separate events, each focusing on one of the university’s four academic units: education, engineering, liberal arts and management. At each event, participants can meet with faculty members, currents students and alumni who have gone on to become leaders in the community.

“Our ‘Education in Action’ events provide a great wealth of information to prospective students and their families,” according to Christopher Tremblay, director of admissions and orientation at UM-Dearborn. “By sharing alumni success stories and connecting degrees to jobs in the field, we are able to showcase how a Michigan degree makes a major difference.”

The first event, “Exploring Your Future in Management” will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1 in the campus’s Fairlane Center South Building, located off of Hubbard Drive.  The event will highlight careers for students interested in attending UM-Dearborn’s School of Management.

The focus will switch to UM-Dearborn’s School of Education during “Teachers Make a Difference” on Monday, Nov. 6 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the campus’s Fairlane Center North Building.

UM-Dearborn’s College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters will be showcased during “Careers for the 21st Century” from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 14 in the campus’s University Center.

The series will wrap up with “Career Night 2006” on Wednesday, Nov. 15 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the campus’s new Institute for Advanced Vehicle Systems Building. This event will explore jobs and careers for students interested in attending UM-Dearborn’s College of Engineering and Computer Science.
