Livonia resident James J. Giordano receives alumni award from UM-Dearborn

DEARBORN / July 26, 2007---James J. Giordano, president and chief executive officer of CareTech Solutions, Inc., received the Distinguished Alumnus of the Year Award from the School of Management at the University of Michigan-Dearborn in a ceremony this spring.

Giordano graduated from UM-Dearborn in 1979 with a bachelorís degree in finance and managerial economics. He earned a masterís degree at the University of Detroit-Mercy in 1986. Giordano serves on the Chancellor's Campaign Council at UM-Dearborn. He has served as vice chair and chair of the UM-Dearborn Alumni Society Board of Governors. During his term as chairman, Giordano was instrumental in raising the awareness for the Alumni Legacy Scholarship, which in a little more than 10 years has become one of the largest endowed scholarship funds on campus.

Before joining CareTech Solutions, a leader in providing health care information technology and health information management solutions, Giordano spent 13 years with Electronic Data Systems Corp., where he was responsible for the financial aspects of the EDS spin-off from General Motors. Giordano joined CareTech in 1998 as vice-president and chief financial officer. During that time, he helped grow the company from $54 million to more than $100 million in annual revenue. As president and chief executive officer, Giordano has expanded CareTech's services, launching several new service lines that also lower overall health care costs.

Giordano is a resident of Livonia.
