One of the most important ways you can protect your personally owned computer is to use anti-virus software. We strongly recommend that you download and install one of the following anti-virus products.

Windows Microsoft Essentials
Microsoft Essentials is free, and is supported on Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP.  It is NOT for use on University owned computers. 

Sophos is free, and is supported on Mac OS X.  It is available only to members of the U-M community for their personally owned computers.  It is NOT for use on University owned computers.
