We are proud of UM-Dearborn's academic excellence and strong performance over the years. Here are some of the most recent honors we have received:

  • Ranked 7th best master's-level public university in the Midwest by U.S. News & World Report. This marks the 13th consecutive year the university was rated as one of the region's best (2016)
  • College of Business ranked top university in Michigan for "Best Online Graduate Business Programs (excluding MBA), #2 part-time MBA program in Michigan and #3 in the state for its online MBA program by U.S. News & World Report (2015)
  • College of Engineering and Computer Science rated among the top undergraduate engineering programs in the country by U.S. News & World Report for the 18th consecutive year (2016)
  • College of Business ranked as one of Michigan's top undergraduate business programs by U.S. News & World Report for the sixth consecutive year (2015)
  • College of Business named a "Best Business School" for the sixth consecutive year in Princeton Review's 296 Best Business Schools (2015)
  • Ranked as a "Best Bank for the Buck" university by Washington Monthly (2015)
  • UM-Dearborn was included on Money Magazine's 2014-2015 list of Best Colleges
  • UM-Dearborn's teacher preparation program is top rated by the Michigan Department of Education with the Early Childhood Education Center receiving 5 out of 5 stars in the tiered quality rating improvement system. (2015) 
  • For the third consecutive year G.I. Jobs magazine named the university a "Military Friendly School," which honors the top 15 percent of universities that embrace American veterans as students (2015)
  • Ranked safest four-year public university in Michigan for second straight year by StateUniversity.com (2013)
  • Recognized as a veteran-friendly school at the gold level by the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency, which recognizes institutions of higher learning for their commitment to supporting student veterans and their dependents. 


The University of Michigan-Dearborn is fully accredited by The Higher Learning Commission. Many of our programs have earned specialized accreditations through program-specific governing bodies, including:

  • College of Business (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, 1 of only 655 schools worldwide to be accredited)
  • Computer and Information Science (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology)
