UM-Dearborn to host Campus Open House on Sunday, September
DEARBORN---The University of Michigan-Dearborn will roll out a welcome mat to the community during its annual Campus Open House from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, September 22.
Prospective students, along with family and friends, will have an opportunity to meet with faculty, staff, students and alumni. Members of the campus community will provide information on undergraduate and graduate programs, admissions procedures, financial aid, and co-op and internship opportunities.
The event will offer lab demonstrations, entertainment, refreshments, trolley and walking tours of campus and an opportunity to explore the historic Henry Ford Estate. Representatives of UM-Dearborn student organizations will answer questions about campus activities.
"We are really excited about this year's Open House where we will be able to showcase the university's new CASL Building," according to Gabrielle Williams, assistant director of admissions at UM-Dearborn, one of the co-chairs for the Open House event.
The CASL Building will serve as the registration site and house the departments of admissions and financial aid during the event.
"This year's event will have a fresh new look with two trolley tours, umbrella food carts, and a wolf mascot--UM-Dearborn sports teams are known as the wolves--to spark up the UM-Dearborn spirit," said Denae Malinowski, admissions counselor at UM-Dearborn and a co-chair of the event.
UM-Dearborn was recently ranked among the top 10 public regional universities in the Midwest, and the College of Engineering and Computer Science was rated among the nation's top undergraduate engineering schools. The campus offers undergraduate and professional degrees in the liberal arts and sciences, engineering, management, education and public administration.
UM-Dearborn is located at 4901 Evergreen Rd. between Ford Road and Michigan Avenue. Prospective students who cannot attend the Open House should call the Office of Admissions and Orientation at (313) 593-5100 to arrange a tour or speak with a counselor.
