College Goal Sunday helps students with financial aid forms
DEARBORN---Volunteers from the Michigan Student Financial Aid Association
and the University of Michigan-Dearborn will help families complete their
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) college financial aid
forms at the UM-Dearborn campus on Sunday, Feb. 13.
The event, called College Goal Sunday, will take place from 2 p.m. to
4 p.m. in the University Center's Kochoff Hall, reached via the campus's
Richard Drive, west of Evergreen Road.
Representatives from UM-Dearborn's office of financial aid will be on
hand to help students and their families complete the FAFSA forms. Those
planning to attend are encouraged to register for the event at http://www.umd.umich.edu/prospective/CollegeDayReg.html.
The FAFSA form provided at the event is the primary ticket for determining
most loans, grants and other aid nationwide. To fill it in, parents or
students should bring their family's 2004 IRS 1040 tax return, if possible,
and their W-2 and other income records. Students younger than 23 years
old are encouraged to attend with a parent or guardian.
College Goal Sunday, which began in Indiana in 1989 and now runs in 23
states, will serve 20 Michigan communities this year. Primary funding
is provided by the Lumina Foundation for Education and the Michigan Guaranty
