UM-Dearborn School of Management to host 'Celebration
of Success' endowment event
The School of Management's emeriti faculty will be the event's guests of honor, in recognition for laying the foundation for the success of the school.
Several alumni and business leaders are helping the School of Management secure underwriting and support for the endowment. Michael Porter, vice president of communications at DTE Energy, was instrumental in DTE Foundation and company donations totaling $50,000 aimed at helping the School of Management with its endowment and promotional efforts.
"The School of Management has been making great strides to be the best regional business school in the nation," Porter said. "My involvement is just another way to give back to my alma mater, where I received an excellent education and career start. And it's gratifying to see the school achieve so many of its goals and more completely fulfill its mission."
The event will include dinner, dancing, a raffle and a silent auction. The raffle prize is a two-year lease on a 2003 Mustang V6 convertible, donated by Ford Motor Company. The winner will be able to select the exterior and interior colors at the time the vehicle is ordered. Raffle tickets are $50. Only 1,000 tickets will be sold; the winner need not be present to win.
The silent auction will include items like a seven-day Celebrity Caribbean cruise for two, including airfare, provided by Auto Club Group.
Individual event tickets are $250, or $1,800 per table of eight. For more information about purchasing raffle and event tickets, tables and sponsorships, call (313) 593-5248, or visit www.som.umd.umich.edu/alumni.
