Biography and Education

Michael Killey, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Accounting at the University of Michigan - Dearborn. Professor Killey earned his B.S. and Macc from Bowling Green State University, MTax from the University of Akron, and Ph.D. from Florida Atlantic University. His professional experience includes positions in government and large public accounting firms where he worked in the areas of taxation, auditing, financial reporting, and business process consulting.

Research

Dr. Killey’s research examines the impact that individual judgements, biases, and behavior have on accounting-related outcomes and has been published in leading accounting journals. His research has been financed by grants from prominent professional organizations and research findings of his have been profiled in the literature.

Teaching

Dr. Killey’s teaching experience includes the instruction of undergraduate and graduate courses in the fields of taxation, auditing, financial reporting, managerial accounting, governmental accounting, and information systems. 

Awards and Recognition

Dr. Killey is the recipient of the UM-Dearborn COB Teacher of the Year Award and the FAU Outstanding Faculty Award, amongst several other pedagogical distinctions.
