Dependents scholarship program

February 28, 2006

Dear Colleagues,

I am very pleased to announce a new tuition scholarship program for dependents of faculty and staff members of the Dearborn campus.  The scholarship program, covering 50 percent of tuition for undergraduate courses, will be available for dependent children of regular full-time faculty and staff and all part-time faculty and staff with appointments of 50 percent or more.

In addition to the help this scholarship program will provide to the family members of our faculty and staff, we believe that it also will provide advantages for the campus.  It will help us recruit and retain students, helping us to increase our enrollment and achieve our enrollment growth goals.  But more than that, this scholarship program will help to further deepen the sense of community that we want to have on the campus.

Many voices on our campus have asked us for a program of this kind.  We have listened to these concerns.  Under the scholarship program, dependents will be eligible for 50 percent tuition scholarship when they enroll in undergraduate courses as degree-seeking undergraduate students, as long as they qualify for admission and have met the prerequisites.

This scholarship is available for admitted and enrolled students beginning in the Fall term 2006.  Program details and guidelines for this scholarship are available in our Admissions and Financial Aid offices.
