Additional Paid Season Days for 2020 (November 4, 2020)

Dear Colleagues,

As a special recognition of dedication and extraordinary effort by our outstanding faculty and staff in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the university is awarding three additional paid days off for the upcoming holiday breaks. This one-time award of additional “season days” will be recognized on November 25, December 23 and December 24, 2020.

Remote working and teaching, experiencing the effects of COVID either through knowing people that have passed or daily juggling of our personal lives and adjusting to important public health measures have made flexibility and agility the hallmarks of the year, and not surprisingly our faculty and staff have risen to the challenge.

Employees covered by a collective bargaining agreement are not automatically eligible because their time off is set by their contract. University HR will collaborate with the leadership of each union to discuss how this award might be applied.

Staff should use the “SEA” time code on their timesheets for these days. Staff who must work on a season day should use the code "SEW" and will receive an equivalent amount of vacation hours as an addition to their vacation accrual.

Upcoming Holidays and Season Days:

November 25—Additional Season Day
November 26-27—Holidays (Thanksgiving)

December 23-24—Additional Season Days
December 25—Holiday (Christmas)
December 28-31—Season Days
January 1—Holiday (New Year’s Day)

If you have any questions about how to complete your timesheet or how to manage the time off in general, please contact the Dearborn Human Resources Office.

This has been a challenging year for many of us. I am happy that we are able to offer this as one small way to recognize and express gratitude to our faculty and staff. Thank you for all you do for the UM-Dearborn community.
