A class in the Sciences Building

Academics

Michigan strong, with the Dearborn difference.

A nationally ranked, practice-based education, backed by the power of a Michigan degree.

At the University of Michigan-Dearborn, you’ll learn, study and grow in a small, supportive community where professors know your name, while graduating with the advantage of a Michigan degree. You’ll never be lost in a large lecture hall here–our average class size is 25 students. We offer more than 100 undergraduate majors and minors, and more than 40 graduate degree programs, many of which include flexible evening and online options. But your academic experience will extend beyond our small class sizes and challenging, relevant coursework.

You will find mentors among our renowned industry- and community-connected professors, who will engage you in real-world, practice-based experiences, invite you to collaborate with them on groundbreaking research – often beginning your very first semester – and support you as you launch your career.

You’ll have opportunities to apply for internships and jobs through our outstanding partnerships with local industries, community nonprofits and international organizations.

We emphasize hands-on learning, so that you can gain practical experience while you study. You’ll launch your career with the knowledge, perspective and skills to thrive in a global workplace. And you’ll graduate with life-long friends and connections, ready to make your mark on the world.
