Tutoring & Supplemental Instruction

The University of Michigan-Dearborn supports all students. One of the main ways it does this through offering numerous offices and services, such as tutoring and supplemental instruction, that assist students as they move through their academic journey.

The resources listed on this page are not the only ones available to you. It is important for students to take charge of their education and seek out help if you are struggling.

Schedule a tutoring consultation, join a SI session, or explore the resources below!

Partner Tutoring Programs

If you need assistance with math, foreign language, writing, or Engineering courses, please refer to the units below. Tutoring Services does not oversee any tutoring in these areas.

Supplemental Instruction Support

Supplemental Instruction sessions are peer-led study sessions for specific courses. The SI sessions are scheduled review sessions in which students compare class notes, discuss assigned readings, solve practice problems, develop organizational tools, and review practice tests. The participants learn how to blend course content and study skills while working together. The sessions are lead by “SI leaders”, students who have previously taken the courses and done well in them. The SI leaders also attend all the lectures, take notes, and are model students. The main purpose of this program is to improve students’ grades and increase student graduation rates.

Supplemental Instruction is available in CASL, COB, & selected CEHHS courses.
