First year admission to University of Michigan-Dearborn is based on a combination of criteria:

• Cumulative high school grade point averages of 3.5 or above are generally admissible
• Applicants with cumulative grade point averages between 2.5 and 3.5 will be considered based on the quality of academic preparation: 
  • Number and types of college preparatory courses
  • Positive trend of grades
• Submission of SAT or ACT scores are optional for the incoming class of 2024
• Upon review of a submitted application, letters of recommendation or essays may be requested

• Non-Native Speakers may have additional requirements

^{Please note: All applicants must graduate from an approved and/or accredited secondary school or home school, or present a General Equivalency Diploma (GED). Students with at least a 600 GED score (Battery Average Score) will be considered for prospective degree admission. Students who take college coursework while in high school (i.e. dual enrollment) are considered first-year students.}

1. Transcripts

First year student applicants must provide official high School transcripts in order to complete their admissions application. Emailed photo copies by students are not accepted by the Undergraduate Admissions Office.

Students may submit transcripts through the following methods:

2. Test Scores (Optional)

University of Michigan-Dearborn’s test-optional admissions policy allows students to choose at the point of application whether to have SAT or ACT test scores considered as part of the application.

• UM-Dearborn is test-optional through at least 2026
• Students can indicate on their application if they want to submit test scores for consideration
• If students choose to submit scores, the following are the codes for UM-Dearborn:
  • SAT — school code 1861
  • ACT — school code 2074
