Meet the Admissions Team
For any student considering transferring to UM-Dearborn, an admissions representative is available to assist you every step of the way.
John likes being an admissions counselor because he knows how stressful the transition into a new university can be, and he likes to be able to help students and families start their new journey at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. He likes making this process as easy and stress free as possible and helping students in any way he can.
John is the Head Coach of a Competitive Speech Team at a local high school in the Dearborn area. He also likes horror movies, escape rooms, and reality competition shows.
John earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at Wayne State University where he majored in Public Relations with a minor in Journalism.
Niko likes being an admissions counselor because he enjoys seeing the light bulb flick on in the eyes of potential students when discussing their passions and future. It is extremely rewarding for Niko to be able to meet with students and assist them through the college search and selection process, and see them attend UM-Dearborn.
He is a self-described "huge Transformers nerd!" In his free time, Niko enjoys spending time with his family, working out, traveling, and playing/watching sports (especially soccer, hockey, and lacrosse).
Niko holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Germanistik and International Studies from Albion College.
Rachel was previously in the AdviseMI program at Ecorse Community High School for two years, which was her first professional experience working in College Access. She loved giving students information about their college and career options, and what different schools had to offer. As an admissions counselor, she looks forward to sharing the "Dearborn Difference", and sharing what being a part of the University of Michigan brand truly means. Getting prepared for that next step can be overwhelming yet exciting, and she loves helping students get to the finish line feeling confident and happy about their choice.
In her free time, Rachel enjoy watching videos on YouTube (especially makeup tutorials), spending time with loved ones, writing, spending lots of time in TJ Maxx, and having relationship talks with her peers.
Rachel holds a Bachelor of Science in Advertising & Public Relations (Advertising Emphasis) from Grand Valley State University, and a Master of Arts in Higher Education & Student Affairs from Eastern Michigan University.
Lauryn enjoys being a resource to students and families during an exciting time. Her undergraduate degree is in African American Studies and she holds a Graduate Certificate in Africology and African American Studies along with a graduate degree in Social Sciences. Lauryn completed both her undergraduate and graduate degrees at Eastern Michigan University as a commuter. In her free time, Lauryn enjoys listening to music, hanging with friends and discovering great food places (especially pizza and tacos).
Although she "HAILS" from Honolulu, Hawaii, Gail has lived in metro Detroit for almost 25 years and calls Detroit her home. Gail loves the fact that she's been blessed with the opportunity to make a difference in a student's life and impact them to believe in, push forward, go through adversity and to rise to the highest level imaginable.
Gail is a dog lover, but currently has a cat. She says this shows that you should always think new thoughts, do new things, visit new places and reinvent yourself.
A proud mother of an enterprising son, she holds a Master's in Administration from Central Michigan University.
