Distinguished Alumnus of the Year
William Hatcher (‘76 M.M.) began his career working at a steel mill, a nuclear power plant, and for national retailers. In 1985, he entered the wine business as managing director for century-old French Burgundy producer Maison Joseph Drouhin. Hatcher went on to co-found the award-winning A to Z Wineworks in Oregon in 2002, which has become certified as a B Corporation and named Best for the World B Corporation five years in a row. A to Z Wineworks has been recognized by Food & Wine magazine and has been noted as one of the fastest growing wine brands in the United States. He is a loyal supporter of UM-Dearborn’s College of Business and has been a member of the College of Business Board of Advisors since 2014.

Huda Beauty (Huda Kattan, ‘07 B.B.A. & Christopher Goncalo, ‘08 M.S.Fin.) Huda Beauty, a Dubai-based,International beauty company, has demonstrated a commitment to making the world a better place for all. Launched in 2013 by award-winning beauty blogger and UM-Dearborn alumna, Huda Kattan, Huda Beauty is now one of the world’s fastest-growing beauty brands. Starting with their first product of false eyelashes, Huda Beauty expanded the company’s empire to include makeup, fragrance, and skin care. Kattan and her husband, Chris Goncalo, also a UM-Dearborn alumnus, have grown the company to the number one beauty Instagram account in the world with over 47 million followers. The company has financially supported the NAACP, Doctors Without Borders, and freelance makeup artists whose work was affected by the world-wide pandemic.
Young Alumnus of the Year
Mariana Doughan (‘15 B.S.E.M.E.) is a powertrain manufacturing engineer and has been honored as a Ford Motor Company 20 Women Behind the Blue Oval recipient and received the Ford Motor Company Go Further Award. She is dedicated to giving back to the community and has been actively involved with Vista Maria for years, volunteering at the organization weekly. At UM-Dearborn, Doughan has provided guidance and promoted future success as a mentor to students, an alumna advisor of Alpha Omega Epsilon Professional Engineering and Technical Sciences Sorority, and a Ford Motor Company manufacturing recruiter on campus. She has also established her own UM-Dearborn scholarship, the Mariana Doughan Engineering Scholarship.
Alumni Service Award
Bryan Becker (‘69 B.B.A.) had a successful career as a partner at Ernst & Young, where he worked for 36 years, and later as a partner at The Hunter Group LLC, in addition to being involved in the community as a committee member and volunteer at several organizations. Becker has been a philanthropic leader and volunteer at UM-Dearborn and has served on the College of Business Board of Advisors since 1993. He created the EY/UM-Dearborn Homecoming, a unique gathering for UM-Dearborn alumni who were also Ernst & Young employees. Becker also planned his class’ 50 year reunion and helped establish the Richard E. Czarnecki Endowed Scholarship and the Richard E. Czarnecki Collegiate Professorship.
College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters Alumnus of the Year
Dr. Nabil Khoury (‘85 B.S.) is an attending physician in Emergency Medicine at St. Mary Mercy Hospital, where he has been serving on the front lines during the COVID-19 pandemic. He also holds a faculty appointment at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians and a fellow of the American College of Physicians. He is a member of the National Arab American Medical Association (NAAMA) and is secretary/treasurer on the Board of Trustees of the NAAMA Foundation. At UM-Dearborn, Dr. Khoury served as guest speaker for the Pre-Med Alumni Mentoring Program and played a key role in helping secure a prestigious matching grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities for the Center for Arab American Studies.
College of Business Alumnus of the Year
Kenneth Mac (‘85 B.S.A.) is a director within General Motors’ Customer Care and Aftersales division, leading the Protection business unit since 2014. Prior to GM, he held various executive management positions in service sector companies including Accenture consulting, Sedgwick administrators, Ally Financial-Insurance, and Michigan Medicine. At UM-Dearborn he served as a College of Business and Talent Gateway alumni mentor, educating students on networking skills, interview tips, and general soft skill demands within the workforce. Mac is a dedicated and engaged supporter of UM-Dearborn and recently joined the UM-Dearborn Alumni Society Board to enhance alumni engagement opportunities.
College of Education, Health, and Human Services Alumnus of the Year
Jeffrey Bouwman (‘08 M.A., ‘11 M.A.E.L.) works tirelessly to share his passion for science by providing an enjoyable and transformative education for his students and has been recognized for his exceptional work as both a middle school teacher and a lecturer within the College of Education, Health, and Human Services at UM-Dearborn. He established programs and opportunities for his students to be actively engaged in the scientific community through projects with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, the GLOBE program, NASA, and WeatherSTEM. Bouwman is a member of the Department of Education Advisory Board and was named the 2019 Middle School Science Teacher of the Year by the Michigan Science Teachers Association.
College of Engineering and Computer Science Alumnus of the Year
David Segura (‘93 B.S.) is the founder and CEO of VisionIT, a global software development company, a preferred systems integrator within large enterprise customers, and a conduit for new technology through its Innovation Studio. Additionally, he was appointed by President Barack Obama to the Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations in support of the U.S. Trade Ambassador, where he served two four-year terms. Segura is the co-founder of the Hispanic IT Executive Council, has helped open technology labs in inner city communities for children, and is a founding sponsor of the BizTech Summer Camp. He is a board member for the Alumni Association of the University of Michigan and a member of UM-Dearborn’s National Advisory Council.
