Community Involvement

You want to make your university, your community and your world a better place. At UM-Dearborn, we share your goals.

A commitment to community impact is a part of our vision; it’s a part of who we are. Last year, our students, faculty and staff reported more than 38,000 hours of community engagement through classes, research, student activities and events, as well as personal projects.

Collect food for the Student Food Pantry and help us continue ensuring that everyone on campus feels safe, welcome and well-supported. Raise local awareness of poverty and hunger by participating in a Poverty Simulation or an Oxfam America Hunger Banquet.

Volunteer locally throughout the year on Make a Difference Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service or with the First Saturdays Program. Or you can join an Alternative Spring Break trip to provide a service to families elsewhere.

Find your calling. Get involved. Together, we can make a difference.

UM-Dearborn Difference Makers

Our students are improving the lives of others and making an impact in the community. Meet more Difference Makers.

I have spent countless hours volunteering at the [hospital] as a transporter, caring for the elderly as a patient support aide, assisting children with learning disabilities and tutoring. I have enjoyed every last second of it.
