LPA Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary

11/15/2018

We are honoring our legacy by inviting two speakers, novelist Josh Malerman and pholosophy professor Dr. Nora Berenstain, to represent the spirit of success and excellence that the department embodies.

Literature, Philosophy, and The Arts is hosting two special events on Monday, November 19 to celebrate the department's tenth anniversary. We are honoring our legacy by inviting two speakers, novelist Josh Malerman and philosophy professor Dr. Nora Berenstain, to represent the spirit of success and excellence that the department embodies.

Josh Malerman’s talk on The "Arc of Writing a Book" is being held in Mary Kochoff Auditorium, 1030 CB, at 12:30 pm. The author is the recipient of multiple writing awards; his novels Bird Box (2014) and Black Mad Wheel (2017) are his most notable works. The film adaptation of Bird Box, starring Sandra Bullock, John Malkovich, and Sarah Paulson, will be hitting Netflix with a concurrent theatrical release December 21, 2018. There will be a book signing following the LPA event, with books available for purchase.

Dr. Nora Berenstain lecture, "Whitewashing as Gaslighting in Feminist Epistemology," will be held in the Berkowitz Gallery in the Mardigian Library at 2:00 pm. Berenstain is an Associate Professor of Philosophy from the University of Tennessee who specializes in the metaphysics of science and feminist epistemology. This event is co-sponsored by the Philosophy discipline and the Women’s and Gender Studies program.

We welcome everyone to come to these events and celebrate this anniversary with us. Light refreshments will be served. We will have other celebratory events in Winter 2019.
