What does a typical workday look like for you?
Starts at 8 a.m. where I sort out all of the emails that came in after hours. This is quite a task as I get interrupted with additional emails and sometimes emergency tasks. Emails are usually finished around 4:59 p.m. Other tasks include purchasing, processing invoices, student reimbursements, pcard and account reconciliations. Meetings are mixing in throughout the day. My lunch break is usually spent chasing my kids around to complete their homework and my breaks consist of cuddling with my dog to relieve stress.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy the steady pace of work and the ability to problem solve issues within my department. These tasks make my day pass quickly.
What was your first job?
My first job was as an ice cream scooper at Baskin Robbins.
What do you do to relax?
One of my favorite things to do to relax is playing cards or board games with my family.
If you could have any one skill or talent that you don’t already have, what would it be?
I would love to learn to waterski since I own a lake house in Traverse City.
What’s the proudest moment of your life?
Seeing my children succeeding on their own.
If we were to create a UM-Dearborn playlist, what song would you want to include?
Islands in the Stream, Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton.
What’s one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
I was born in Montana and I am a country girl at heart.
What’s one thing you wish you had known when you were a teenager?
The younger you invest, the younger you can enjoy the fruits of that investment.
