Beginning Ancient Greek I is designed for students wishing to begin the study of ancient Greek and will include a study of grammar and vocabulary with readings of simple Attic prose.
Attention will also be given to the Greek roots of English words, including scientific and medical terms.
The fall term Ancient Greek I course will be followed in the winter term by Ancient Greek II, which continues the study of grammar and puts increasing emphasis on readily ability. Passages from selected classical authors, such as Herodotus and Thucydides will be read in Greek II. Beginning Ancient Greek I and II satisfy the foreign language requirement for UM-Dearborn students. Ancient Greek I and II are also open to Michigan alumni, guest students, and qualified high school dual enrollment students.
