Dr. Tushar Sharma, Senior Research Scientist at Siemens Corporate Technology, Charlotte, USA, visited the Computer and Information Science Department (virtually) and gave a research seminar on how design smells influence architecture smells (and vice-versa) in software systems.

Code smells are indicators of quality issues in a software system and are classified based on their granularity, scope, and impact. In this seminar, Dr. Sharma provided an overview of design and architecture smells and brought out the relationships (specifically, correlation, collocation, and causation) between them by presenting results of a large-scale empirical study. He discussed his ongoing research and future plans.
