Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering

All admissions are for the Fall term only.

Admission Requirements

  1. Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physical Science, or Mathematical Science with a 3.2 GPA or higher on a 4.0 point scale.
  2. GRE taken within 5 years prior to admission
  3. Applicants whose native language is not English must demonstrate English proficiency and are required to provide an official score report of an accepted English Language Proficiency Test. Applicants only need to take one of the test options below. 

    Minimum required scores: 

    IBT TOEFL Internet-Based Test: overall score of 84

    IELTS: overall score of 6.5

    MELAB: overall score of 80

  4. A strong background in mathematics which includes ordinary differential equations, linear algebra, and probability and statistics as well as competence in computer programming, and knowledge of data structures and algorithms. No particular language or programming methodology is required.
  5. Three recommendation letters from faculty and/or employer (The recommendation letters must be on official letterhead and indicate the student's research potential.) The Recommendation for Admission form must be submitted with each letter of recommendation. 
  6. A Statement of Purpose describing academic and research background, career goals and educational objectives and research interest.  If identified, include the name of any faculty member you are interested in working with during your Ph.D. studies.
  7. An interview conducted onsite or by teleconference
