MTTC Elementary Certification Exams
The Michigan Test for Teacher Certification - Elementary Education (#103) exam is required for all elementary education students and must be passed prior to student teaching.
It is recommended that students take this test during the student teaching semester.
The MTTC Elementary Education Exam consists of 150 multiple choice questions covering six (6) subareas. They are broken down as follows:
- English Language Arts and World Languages - 24 percent
- Social Studies - 16 percent
- Visual and Performing Arts - 10 percent
- Mathematics - 22 percent
- Science - 18 percent
- Health Education and Physical Education - 10 percent
Subject area tests in elementary education are not required to be passed prior to student teaching; however, they must be passed to be included on the teaching certificate.
