The AmeriCorps Urban Safety program at Wayne State University is looking for students in Public Health (or related field) to assist in on-the-field studies of lead poisoning and asthma triggers in the most affected neighborhoods in Detroit.

Benefits include:

  • Flexible Part-Time hours: hours of service are anywhere between 15-35 hours a week
  • Bi-weekly stipend of up to $500
  • Up to $6,000 in scholarship for any accredited institution (university, community college, or trade school) following a successful term.

Child Life Specialist Associate

The Child & Family Life department at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital is seeking a self-motivated, confident and enthusiastic child life specialist to join our team.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Child Life or related field allowing for credentialing as a Certified Child Life Specialist is required.
  • Certification from the Association of Child Life Professionals as a Certified Child Life Specialist within first year of hire is required.
  • Pediatric healthcare experience (minimum of 600-hour child life clinical internship) is required.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, teamwork, and listening skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team is required.
  • Ability to problem solve and make clinical decisions with minimal supervision and independently when needed is required.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic medical record is required.
  • ACLP and Great Lakes Association of Child Life Professionals (GLACLP) membership is desired.
  • This position requires frequent standing/walking, as well as lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring of patients.

This is a Monday-Friday 40 hour daytime position. Both internal and external staff should apply online.

HHS students job opportunity

Safe Routes to Health AmeriCorps Program is looking for 8 dedicated individuals to serve half-time implementing health, wellness, and physical activity programming in Dearborn, Detroit, Farmington Hills, and Wayne/Westland. The host sites for the 2019-2020 service year include Beaumont and Brilliant Detroit.

Participants will focus on serving people with unmet health needs in underserved, low-income communities. Using a multigenerational approach, participants will connect citizens to health, wellness, and physical activity programs with assistance from community volunteers that members recruit.
