2017 ECEC Retreat
Teachers and Administrative Staff from the Early Childhood Education Center participated on an annual retreat.
DEARBORN, MI. – The Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) had an annual retreat on October 13, 2017 at the Henry hotel in Dearborn. Following the steps of its parent unit, College of Education, Health, and Human Services (CEHHS) who had its retreat in August, ECEC’s teachers and administrative staff got together for a day of bonding and team building.
Interim Associate Dean, Stein Brunvand welcomed the enthusiastic group and presented the vision and goals for ECEC as well as for the CEHHS as a whole. Afterwards, Renne Mainor, Senior Human Resources Consultant was introduced as the HR representative for all of CEHHS and finally, LaShorage Shaffer, Faculty Director of ECEC, discussed the center’s goals and plans in detail for moving forward.
ECEC’s teachers and staff practiced their artistic skills with a stepping-stone morning session with Karen Birdwell, owner of "All That Glass" and a painting afternoon session with Julian Urban, from “Painting with a Twist".
The Early Childhood Education Center is a unit of the College of Education, Health, and Human Services with a high quality early childhood program. The ECEC is a State of Michigan approved and National Association for the Education of Young Children accredited early learning center for young children.
The Center also serves as a model teacher preparation and child study facility for university students enrolled in a variety of UM-Dearborn education courses.
