Professor Kim Killu has been appointed Faculty Ombudsperson at the University of Michigan. Her appointment will run through the Summer of 2020.
DEARBORN.- CEHHS is pleased to announce that Professor Kim Killu has been appointed Faculty Ombudsperson at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Her appointment will run through the Summer of 2020. Dr. Killu has many years of service as a member of relevant committees such as the Faculty Senate Promotion and Tenure Committee, Grievance Committee, Grievance Hearing Board, Student Code Appeals Board, and as Chair of the CEHHS Academic Hearing Board. Serving in these capacities has provided her opportunities to closely examine the Standard Practice Guide, Codes of Conduct, and Tenure and Promotion Guidelines, and in some cases to be aware of relevant federal legislation.
The University of Michigan-Dearborn Faculty Ombudsperson position was created by the Faculty Senate to assist faculty members by providing confidential, informal, and impartial assistance that supports faculty in the resolution of issues relating to their employment. In order to maintain neutrality, the Ombudsperson serves as a volunteer and is not directly compensated by the University administration for their work. Since the position was instated in 1998, Professor Ron Stockton has served the campus in this capacity. We are grateful to Ron Stockton for his many years of service and we are thrilled that Dr. Killu has been selected to take on this role for the campus.
