Those who already hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution are able to earn a Michigan Elementary Standard Teaching Certificate in the Certification-Only Elementary (COE) Program.
Completers of the program are prepared to be competent, caring and reflective educators who are ready to teach grades kindergarten through five in all elementary subjects, and grades six through eight in a chosen content area.
The program’s curriculum consists of academic study, professional preparation and field experience, providing graduates with pedagogical and content-specific knowledge, readying them to work with diverse learners in the elementary and middle school classroom. Throughout the program, completers gain the experience they need to apply technology to the 21st century classroom.
With successful completion of the program, participants earn the faculty recommendation necessary to receive a Michigan Elementary Standard Certificate. The possible teaching majors are listed below.
