What classes do I need to take?

The admission requirements for Colleges of Podiatric Medicine vary slightly, however, many requirements are consistent for all schools. All of the accredited podiatry programs grant the degree of Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM). The required courses and path to DPM can vary for each school but a general path is suggested by Explore Podiatry.

What is the national standardized test?

All Colleges of Podiatric Medicine, are medical schools, and thus require applicants to submit scores from the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). The courses listed above should be completed during the first three years so you are prepared to take the MCAT in the spring or summer before you apply.

What else should I know?

It is important that you learn and incorporate the Association of American Medical Colleges Core Competencies for Entering Medical Students in your academic and non-academic activities.
