National Conference for College Women Student Leaders (NCCWSL)
The National Conference for College Women Student Leaders (NCCWSL) brings college women from across the country to the University of Maryland, College Park to address current leadership issues and also promotes career development, job search readiness, and success in the workplace. Over the 3-day event, students hear from keynote speakers, attend workshops and the graduate school and career fair, and visit the Washington DC. Students return home ready to improve their campuses and communities. NCCWSL is where college women make their future what they want!
With the support of many campus departments, we have provided scholarships to send Michigan women to this conference. In 2018, UM-Dearborn sent 60 of our students accompanied by 45 students from 13 other Michigan and Ohio colleges and universities to the University of Maryland, College Park via charter bus. In addition to being supported by their schools, students are sponsored by their local American Association of University Women branch.
AAUW Start Smart Salary Negotiation Workshops
AAUW Start Smart salary negotiation workshops are designed for students about to begin their search for their first post-graduation position, although it is open for all to attend. Students will learn about the gender pay gap, how to research and determine a fair market value, improve their negotiating style, learn to budget for life on their own, and most importantly build confidence.
