American Marketing Association Competes at the International Collegiate Conference

COB’s AMA chapter represents UM-Dearborn at the International Collegiate Conference in New Orleans.

Last month, five members of the American Marketing Association attended the International Collegiate Conference (ICC) in New Orleans, Louisiana. The conference brought together 1700 aspiring marketers from across the United States to participate in professional development sessions, learn about cutting edge industry information, compete in competitions and network with fellow marketing professionals.

Students heard from key note speaker Mark French, an entrepreneur and inventor, who shared his story and struggles launching products including: Court Grip, The Players’ Tribune, a tv show called "Fit Team Five" and twenty, a new social app focused on meeting up with friends in person. Sheryl Adkins-Green, CMO of Mary Kay, was the second keynote speaker, who shared her experience modernizing a brand and global marketing strategy. In addition, students were able to attend breakout sessions with topics such as, The Continuous Change in Marketing, Branding Yourself to Win the Interview, Promotional Marketing, Listening to the Haters and Sports Analytics.

During the awards banquet COB's AMA chapter received awards for:

  • Commendable in the Case Competition
  • Outstanding Chapter Planning and Fundraising
  • Placed 5th in the website competition out of 150 chapters lead by Natalie Erickson
