Financial Management Association Attends Finance Leaders’ Conference
The University of Michigan-Dearborn’s Financial Management Association (FMA) participated in the 2019 Finance Leaders’ Conference in New York.
Students sharpened their leadership and communication skills while networking with other professionals during the Finance Leaders’ Conference at Baruch College in New York this spring. The conference featured industry experts who spoke on topics such as personal development, the current state of the economy and the future of finance. Also, students toured local financial institutions, including the New York Stock Exchange, Nasdaq, the Federal Reserve Bank and Bloomberg.
In addition, COB faculty member Nicholas Vlisides, the FMA faculty advisor, arranged private meetings for the students with his contacts at Bank of America, Standard & Poor’s and Moody’s. During these meetings, students gained an overview of how large financial institutions function, learned about specific financial operations such as credit analysis and underwriting, and received career-development advice.
