Last Friday the University of Michigan-Dearborn’s Volleyball Team recognized Lise Urbaczewski, Lecturer of Management Information Systems, and Tom Deska, Lecturer of Marketing, as a “Most Valuable Professor.”

The volleyball team’s student athletes have a long tradition of honoring faculty and staff who have made an impact on their collegiate experience. In 2014, when Eric Stark became the head coach, he renamed this recognition to M.V.P., or Most Valuable Professor. Since then, every season each player is invited recognize one faculty member, who is invited to a match in which these faculty MVP’s are recognized.

As Stark explained the significance of the evening, “It is my belief that it is important to take time to recognize all components of the student-athlete experience, and this is a great opportunity for us to focus on the academic portion.”
