UM-Dearborn students from other academic programs are welcome to schedule an appointment with a College of Business advisor to learn more about the BBA program.

To schedule an appointment, call the COB Student Services Office at 313-593-5460 during any time of the year except for

  • the first two weeks of each term.
  • the months of October and March.

To apply to the College of Business, current UM-Dearborn students need to submit a Change of Degree form to their current academic unit.


  • Prebusiness

    UM-Dearborn students that do not yet meet the criteria for BBA admission can apply for admission into the pre-business major. Required criteria are:

    • a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 
    • a minimum grade point average of 2.80 in LE 253 and/or any upper level business credits completed at UM-Dearborn
    • a minimum grade of C in any of the BBA Prerequisite courses completed
    • completion of the English Composition Placement Exam
    • completion of the BBA math requirement, or completion of Math Placement Exam and discretion of the COB Student Services Office.
  • BBA 3.0 and 4.0

    To enter the BBA and declare a business major, students must satisfy four criteria:

    Current UM-Dearborn students must submit a Change of Degree form to their current academic unit. 

  • BBA 5.0

    UM-Dearborn students who are not yet eligible to declare a business major have pre-business status. To enter the BBA program, students must satisfy four requirements:

    • Complete the ten prerequisite courses, with a minimum grade of C in each course. 
    • Complete a minimum of 55 credit hours
    • Achieve a minimum GPA of 2.80 in a minimum of 12 business credits including DS 301*, the BBA Core, and upper-level business course completed at UM-Dearborn. (*If a student receives transfer credit for DS 301, then BE 401 or FIN 401 must be taken as a substitute.)
    • Fulfill the writing requirement

      Current UM-Dearborn students must submit a Change of Degree form to their current academic unit.
