Training

The Department of Public Safety (DPS) provides safety trainings for UM-Dearborn students, faculty and staff.

Active Attacker Response Training

An "active attacker" is an individual who is engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a confined and populated area. In most cases, active attackers use firearm(s) and there is no pattern or method to their selection of victims.

This training helps to prepare you for actions to take should an active attacker be in your vicinity. You must be prepared both mentally and physically to deal with the situation and to take action steps that may help save your life.

We encourage you to sign up and attend the training.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to DPS at 313-593-9953.

For further reading on active attacker preparedness, visit the Department of Homeland Security website.
