Biography and Education
Ellen directs the Student Outreach and Academic Resources (SOAR) program at UM-Dearborn. SOAR provides specialized support for returning adult students with financial need. Ellen is also a LEO lecturer in Language, Culture, and Communication and Liberal Studies. She has 18 years of teaching experience in interpersonal, group, family, and intercultural communication as well as training in intergroup dialogue and conflict resolution. As a higher education professional with experience in program management, curriculum development, teaching, and academic support for diverse student groups, Ellen is known for her ability to engage students, successfully lead collaborative institutional initiatives, and reduce barriers to student achievement.
