Join Chancellor Domenico Grasso and Professor Deborah Smith Pollard as UM-Dearborn welcomes our first Thought Leader, Olin College of Engineering President Richard Miller. Thought leaders will be invited to campus throughout the Strategic Planning process to discuss the state of higher education and other related topics. 

President Miller will share his thoughts on the future of higher education and what UM-Dearborn might consider during our strategic planning process.

About the Speaker
Richard Miller is the first — and only — president of Olin College of Engineering. With a background in applied mechanics and current interests in innovation in higher education, he is the author of more than 100 reviewed journal articles and other technical publications. He also is a member of the National Academy of Engineering. 

Miller received the 2017 Brock International Prize in Education for his many contributions to the reinvention of engineering education and the Marlowe Award for creative and distinguished administrative leadership from the American Society for Engineering Education. Together with two Olin colleagues, he received the Bernard M. Gordon Prize from the U.S. National Academy of Engineering for Innovation in Engineering and Technology Education.
