The evening highlights and celebrates student leadership in STEAM fields.

The Blank Canvas Project is funded by the Ford Fund and was developed by Dr. Truman Hudson, Jr. and doctoral and graduate students in EDA-515 Communities and Schools:Building and Sustaining Partnerships at the College of Education, Health, and Human Services.

The primary aim of the Blank Canvas Project is to provide opportunities to Black LGBTQ+ youth to become leaders in the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) fields. Through the support and leadership of the project's partners at the University of Michigan-Dearborn College of Education, Health, and Human Services, Ford Fund, Ford GLOBE, LGBT Detroit, and Izzie, LLC., Blank Canvas will provide Black LGBTQ+ youth with real world experiences in the STEAM professions.
