Dr Siqian Shen

Dr Shen will discuss the scope and funding opportunities at the Civil Infrastructure Systems (CIS) program in CMMI, as well as other related programs and solicitations at NSF, including Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), Smart & Connected Communities (S&CC)/CIVIC challenge, and so on. Dr Shen will also provide general suggestions for writing NSF proposals, targeting on core programs or different solicitations, as well as EAGER, RAPID, and CAREER opportunities.  

Speaker Bio
Siqian Shen is a Professor and a Richard Wilson Faculty Scholar in the Department of Industrial and Operations Engineering at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. She was an Associate Director for the Michigan Institute for Computational Discovery & Engineering (MICDE) from 2016-2023. Prof. Shen obtained her B.S. degree from Tsinghua University in 2007 and Ph.D. from the University of Florida in 2011. Her research interests are in stochastic optimization, integer programming, and network optimization, with applications in energy, healthcare, transportation and logistics. She is currently rotating as a Program Director in the ENG/CMMI Civil Infrastructure Systems (CIS) program at the National Science Foundation (NSF).
