Kathleen Pepin, A.I.C.P., Director of Facilities Planning
Kate's career in university planning is focused on educational master planning, responsive design, access and identity. She strives to align a facility’s design with academic planning and pedagogy to create facilities that meet the evolving needs of higher education and campus research initiatives.
Her efforts to create collaborative relationships with local government and businesses, benefit the university and its connections to the community, resulting in improved community access, traffic management and a sustainable, healthier, walkable community.
Kate earned her Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Michigan, and is an AICP certified planner with the American Planning Association.
Catherine McPherson, LEED AP, Interior Designer
Catherine obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Architecture from Lawrence Technological University and is recognized in the State of Michigan as a Professional Interior Designer. Catherine is our expert in ergonomic workstation design, interior finishes, and code review as it relates to furniture and fixtures in higher education. Catherine has nearly 30 years of experience in interior architecture, and has been working at UM-Dearborn since 2011. Catherine is LEED AP Certified and OSHA Construction Safety Certified.
Emily Hamilton, P.E., Project Manager
Emily graduated from U of M, Ann Arbor with a degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering. She is a licensed Professional Engineer with 20 years of experience in design and construction project management. Since 2009, Emily has been making her mark at the University of Michigan-Dearborn by providing strategic vision as a Project Manager with a deep understanding of construction means and methods. When not working, Emily is a devoted swim-mom, carpool driver, and short-order cook.
Rachel Olson, Administrative Specialist
Rachel is a seasoned administrative assistant and began her career at UM in 2011 as a Senior Administrative Assistant with UMHS. Rachel focuses on meeting each client’s objective and enjoys collaborating with the Facilities Planning team and contributing to a project’s success. Prior to UM, Rachel held administrative assistant positions in education, banking, health care and business management. Rachel is captivated with her grown family, community volunteering, boating, caring for and training animals.
