Faculty and staff contribute $173,000 during annual giving campaign

UM-Dearborn Faculty and Staff Campaign

The UM-Dearborn community generously gave during the annual Faculty and Staff Campaign, with 170 active faculty and staff members contributing more than $173,000. The gifts allocated toward a specific college, unit, department, program or scholarship play an important role in the success of our students.

The university generated 20.4 percent participation from faculty and staff. That’s a 6 percent increase in participation over last year’s campaign.

With the ability to direct donations to the campus fund of their choice, faculty and staff members have an opportunity to make a difference in areas that are most meaningful to them. The funds help spark innovative academic programs and research, provide student scholarships, support top-tier faculty, and create collaborative environments for teaching and learning. The contributions you make are critical, and every dollar donated is significant to the students and programs that receive it.

UM-Dearborn wouldn’t have generated such a successful campaign without the leadership and enthusiasm of co-chairs Bruce Maxim, associate professor of computer and information science in the College of Engineering and Computer Sciences; Susan Everett, chair and associate professor of education in the College of Education, Health, and Human Services; Susan Gedert, alumni affiliate coordinator and communications editor in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters; Mike Callahan, director of internships and Career Management Center in the College of Business; and Karen Holland, special events coordinator in the Chancellor's Office.

Employee giving sends a strong message of support and belief in the university’s mission. Together we are becoming victors, creating victors and encouraging victors. Strong participation from faculty and staff members also can help influence giving among students, alumni, friends and corporations. Last month, during Hail Yeah, a campus-wide day of thanks, more than 600 UM-Dearborn students wrote donors special thank you notes to reaffirm their appreciation to those who give back. Click here to watch a special video of the day’s excitement.
